Our last stop in Virginia was a visit to Shenandoah National Park. We found a great RV resort in Fort Royal, VA – right near the entrance to the park and the famous Skyline Drive.
Shenandoah National Park extends along the Blue Ridge Mountains, and Skyline Drive runs its length. There is a vast network of trails in the park, including a section of the Appalachian Trail.
The views were breathtaking. In the fall, it’s probably pretty spectacular. Here are some of the highlights.

Constructed in 1932, Mary’s Rock Tunnel is a 610-foot long tunnel blasted through the solid granite mountain that Skyline Drive passes through. It took workers three months to drill, blast, clear and repeat for the length of the tunnel.

We had lunch at Big Meadows Lodge and enjoyed a beautiful view.

And that wraps up Virginia. Off to more adventures…
