IMG_4057Springfield, Illinois is home to the Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library and Museum. This is one of our favorites by far.

When you first enter the museum, there is a holographic welcome presentation that is so realistic, you’d swear there were real people on the stage in front of you. It was truly impressive.

The museum is full of interesting history and exhibits. There were even buttons from Lincoln’s campaigns.

Following our tour of the museum, we headed over to the old state capitol building were Lincoln served in the State Legislature. The building is beautiful, and we were able to visit the Senate Chamber as well as peer into the various preserved offices.

Lincoln’s home when he was in the Legislature is in Springfield as well. It was very nice – clearly he did well as a lawyer and Senator.

At our campground, we met a couple of adorable kids.  They’re missionaries to the nation of Zambia in Africa.

We capped off our time in Springfield with a visit to Lincoln’s tomb. It’s quite grandiose, and we wonder if Lincoln would have approved.
