Have you ever experienced an earthquake? Your house shakes; windows rattle; things fall off shelves. Well living in an RV, you experience that every time you hit the road! The constant shaking and vibration can take its toll, and sure enough, we hit a couple snags recently.
The first was the transfer switch that sends electricity to the RV. When we’re at a campground and plugged into electrical, the current flows into the rig. When we run our generator, a switch automatically diverts the power from the generator into the rig. Its a pretty simple device, when it works right. Unfortunately, ours wasn’t working right.
We took the motorhome to a generator shop and they diagnosed the problem and ordered the part we needed. It was going to be a few days, so we headed toward the Lake Michigan coast in Wisconsin for the weekend. We didn’t make it.
One of our airbags from the suspension blew and we were stuck. Of course this happened on a Saturday afternoon. No way to get a service tech to look at it until Monday, so we camped in a parking lot for a couple of days. Monday rolled around, and we learned the repair was something that needed to be done at a shop.

So… tow truck to the rescue!
We got to camp in the parking lot of “Truck Country” in Mosinee, Wisconsin. Once that was fixed, it was off to the generator shop for that repair.
Finally, we were on our way again. We headed to the Lake Michigan coast once again. And it was well worth the wait…
