Petoskey, Michigan is located in northern Michigan – about an hour from Traverse City where we’ve spent several summers in the past when Jeff’s family lived there.
We pulled into the Petoskey Motorcoach Resort for several days of relaxation and wow! It lives up to its name – resort. The spots were very spacious, and most had water views of ponds with water fountains. There was a nice pool and exercise room, along with a clubhouse and other amenities.

What a great place to kick back for a few days!
We took a bike ride along the 30 mile bike trail that runs parallel to the Bay. It was a gorgeous day and beautiful ride.

The following day, we jumped in the car and headed for the Tunnel of Trees. This is a somewhat famous drive along the banks of Lake Michigan where the trees form a canopy like a giant tunnel. It was a very beautiful drive.
At the end of the tunnel was the small town of Cross Village where we stopped at the Legs Inn. Quite a unique place, the Legs Inn. Built by a polish immigrant who loved to sculpt wood, this restaurant features all sorts of hand carved wooden figures.
The door it self was quite unique.

The Legs Inn features a menu of polish food. Most of the employees are seasonal workers brought in from Poland. The food was excellent! We shared a Borscht and chicken dish that was wonderful.
The restaurant is located right on the banks of Lake Michigan. The view was spectacular.
So, how did the Legs Inn get its name? We thought maybe the founder was named Leg. No.
The restaurant is so named because the roof is lined with the legs from old stoves.
