It’s mid-June, and the California primaries are now history. I’ve finally been able to decompress and catch my breath after a busy couple of months. When last we updated our site, we were in Biloxi, Mississippi on our way to New Orleans. The Gulf Coast was beautiful, and except for one day, we were blessed with great weather.
Louisiana Bayou
As we approached New Orleans, we made a stop in Slidell, Louisiana to take a tour of the Louisiana Bayou. The “Honey Island Swamp Tour” was great. If you’re in the area, we highly recommend it. We saw a ton of wildlife – snakes, turtles, alligators and wild boar.

New Orleans
It’s a fun city. Lots to see and do. We made our way down the infamous Bourbon Street and through the French Quarter, had some world famous beignets at Cafe du Monde, visited a famous cemetery and strolled through Louis Armstrong Park.
Here are some highlights.

More videos on the video page, and of course, more photos in the gallery too.
Hilton Head Island, South Carolina
We made a trek to Hilton Head Island in South Carolina to visit friends, Joel & Wendy Katz. Hilton Head was beautiful, and the RV resort where we stayed was quite nice. There was a small lake in the middle of the resort with resident turtles and even an alligator. Cathy got a surprise, up close look at the alligator, and it definitely left her with an adrenaline rush. Here are some of the sights.

Kitty Hawk, North Carolina
When we passed through North Carolina last year, we were unable to make it to the coast. We really wanted to visit Kitty Hawk, where the Wright Brothers first took flight, so we made a beeline up the coast and visited the Wright Brothers Museum.
Fascinating history of their many attempts to achieve flight, and their ultimate success. It was a beautiful day and we had a great time exploring.

We’re heading north (gradually). Looking forward to stops in Maryland, DC, New York and beyond…
